Day 3 Juice fast

Today is the third day of my juice fast and as I have decided the last one.... Tomorrow I will have the pleasure of eating (and delightfully chewing) lots of raw salads...YUMMMM! My mouth is watering.

It is amazing how a short juice fast impacts my body benefically though. I can see my skin looks better and my body feels lighter. If it wasn't for my cravings to chew I would eat like this forever... I have decided I will do a day fast every monday and whenever I have a big event coming up... It just makes me feel so great and renewed.

Day 2 Juice fast

Today was my second day on the fast... Although the Chlorella, Spirulina and green vibrance help wonders with my hunger I still get the desperate need to chew!!! I know it`s weird, but I am totally fine - no crazy detox feelings - just the I NEED to CHEW urge...

Very weird... But I tried some wonderful new flavors today... Watermelon, lemon Spirulina, papaya pineapple and mint... Hmmm and I truly feel great... I am starting to think my body does not deal well with fats as I usually get so lethargic with avocados... Maybe I am supposed to be an 811 girl, just need the discipline.

Juice Fast - Day 1

My friend Renee is going on a month long juice fast, she ended up inspiring me to follow her... And so my juice fast started... I am going to be following the guidelines below:

Upon Rising

½ lemon squeezed into a glass of warm water (Lemon juice in water also has a slightly laxative effect and stimulates the digestive juices which is important for detox. Drink immediately after rising in the morning, before having the bentonite clay and flaxseed drink.)

1 tablespoon of bentonite clay and 1 tablespoon of ground flaxseed in a glass of water (wait at least 1/2 hour before eating)

Breakfast
• 8-12 oz Green juice juice (dilute with 8-12 oz of distilled water), with 1 tablespoon of spirulina

Mid-Morning Snack
Fruit Juice

Lunch
• 8-12 oz vegetable juice (dilute with 8-12 oz of distilled water), with liquid blue-green algae, spirulina, or chlorella
• Green vibrance smoothie made with fruit and distilled water

Mid-Afternoon Snack
 dandelion root tea
 vegetable/fruit juice

Dinner
 Chlorella smoothie made with fruit
 Work-out days add 2 TBSP of peanut butter
 vegetable juice

Before Bed

 1 tablespoon of bentonite clay and 1 tablespoon of ground flaxseed in a glass of water


 Consume as much fruit/vegetable juice, vegetable broth and herbal tea throughout the day
 No juices/broth after 7 pm
 Consume at least 64 ounces of distilled water per day

So far it hasn`t been that bad. I think I can make it this time... Who knows maybe I`ll make it 21 days... But I want to do a minimum of 7. The water with ground flaxseed wasn`t very tasty, but the bentonite clay was not as bad as I thought. The juices have been wonderful and I feel that the Spirulina and Green vibrance are helping a lot... I think they provide me with most of the nutrients I need, which helps me with cravings.

Chocolate cheesecake again...



This Chocolate cheesecake is a hit every time, so I made it for a family gathering this Saturday. I am very pleased to announce that my S.A.D. family loved it... So next family gathering I will try another recipe... I guess my mediterranean salad didn`t taste S.A.D.ey enough to be of their liking, so I will try to make a raw Ceasar Salad next time.

Vegan diva Mediterranean salad



This salad is so yummy and my husband loves it. Here is how I made it

First you need to get some shiitake mushrooms and marinate them in lemon juice, herbs, garlic, olive oil and a little bit of nama shoyu. Dehydrate them for 4 hours.

I processed two green onions and a whole yellow pepper in the food processor with the s blade.

Then I got some organic spring mix (more or less 2 handfuls) and placed it in bowl with the processed ingredients.

I added some sprouts extra virgin oil, raw vinegar and the dehydrated mushrooms....YUMMM

Tossed all ingredients and voilá!

Water fast

Today I woke up and it was time to go to the gym... I didn't have enough time to make my green juice so I just went and didn't not eat anything except water. It was a really hard circuit class so I was afraid I was going to pass out... Surprisingly to me I didn't. When I got back from the gym it was a quarter to eleven and I decided to give the water fast a try. It is now 2pm and so far so good. I had waves of hunger, that quickly went away and felt lightheaded and slightly disoriented at times, but it all quickly went away. We'll see how I will be feeling at the end of the day...

Girls Night Out Raw FoodsPotluck





The Potluck was sooo yummy! I made some guac , raw tortillas, belgian endive leaves (for chips), eggplant chips, various juices, a raw chocolate cheesecake and salsa. Some of the dishes that people brought were - Raw lasgna (Thanks Renee), Kale beet salad(Thanks Julie), dill spread (thanks Lidia), among many others.... It was a great evening!

My stash of young coconuts!

I went to my neighborhood produce store and young coconuts were on sale for $1.39!!! I was so happy!!! I got ten of those babies and took home with me... If you live in the Schaumburg IL area, make sure to go to valley produce and buy some for yourself! Now cannot wait to drink them dry and then use the meat to make some cool concoctions.... With the Brazilian festival close by (festa Junina) thinking of making a raw cocada.... We`ll see....

Raw strawberry cupcakes

Here is a pic of the yummy strawberry cupcakes (raw of course) that I made for my friend who came over tonight... Obviously two gotten eaten right away... By me... She ate another two when she was over... It was delicious we also had some raw banana ice cream topped with cocoa nibs.... Yummy! Oh And let`s not forget the cocoa pudding... Yummy... It was a dessert overdrive!

811 failure again

After 3 days on 811 I had to give in to guacamole.... It is always my downfall. I really want to try again, but we'll see how that goes. Today I have a friend comeover and will make her a rawesome raw strawberry shortcake. I am trying to stay on the low fat end of the scale so we'll se how that turns out. I will publish a picture of my concoction later on today!

811 DAY 3

I totally forgot to post yesterday so I'll just post today really quickly how my 811 day went.I started the day with a watermelon strawberry spinach smoothie that tasted great. Later I snacked on a mango... Yummm Only three left from te case I bought with 10!

For lunch I had a red chard and spinach salad with a herb vinaigrette - no oils added... I again had another mango for a afternoon snack... Those mangoes just have my name written all over them!

My dinner unfortunately wasn't very 811ish in the other hand. We went out for dinner and I had a tasty salad that included mangoes, avocadoes, cherry tomatoes, lettuce, spinach and a non 811 herb vinagrette... Oh my it was so good.... I topped with off with a glass of sauvignon blanc....

Well at least I was on board of the 811 wagon till dinner! :)

811 day 2

Today I started out my 811 day pretty well. I had an apple, celery and kale juice for breakfast. I then had lunch at cousin's in downtown chicago.... I had yummy salalds for lunch and ended up tempted by a banana chocolate mousse... Oops after that I had to watch the end of my day. I snacked on a sweet mango.... It was so sweet I just peeled it and took bites off of it... It was so yummy. For dinner I had zuccini noodles with some spinach and marinara sauce. To top everything off I had some clove tea.... So far so good :)

During the day I also tried making my raw vegan version of a Frappuccino, but that did not work well.... yet. I'll post the recipe when I get it right... :)

811 trial day one

So far so good... I did very well in the 811 RV today! I am so excited. This is what I ate today:


  • Breakfast:
  • Juice of 1/4 of a watermelon rind and all
  • Ate the other 1/4 of the watermelon
  • Lunch:
  • Green smoothie made with 2 handfuls of spinach, 1/3 of a papaya and a banana
  • Salsa and my raw tortilla chips (they are 811) :)
  • Snack
  • More salsa and raw 811 tortillas
  • Dinner
  • 1 mango
  • 1/4of a papaya
  • Marinated Portobello mushroom (no fat in the marinade) topped with marinara sauce (no fats added)

Today I got my Excalibur dehydrator on the mail... I have a nine tray one with a timer and I am soooo excited! I made some more raw tortilla chips, eggplant chips and carrot chips.... Going through my recipe books to find more low fat stuff to dehydrate! I am so excited!

Gabriel's raw sodas!

I finally got my son to try raw green smoothies by first making our very own vegan raw sodas! He was so into it he came up with his own soda company (G-Soda) and wants to sell his soda in a soda stand... LOL

Anyway here is the recipe (it yelds 1 Liter each)

Mighty Mango Raw Soda
500 ml carbonated water
Juice from 1 orange
Juice from 1 mango
4 tablespoons raw agave

Mix it in blender in low

Healthy Man Raw Soda
500 ml carbonated water
Juice from 2 cups of grapes
Juice from 1 apple
4 tablespoons raw agave

Oh my.... Gotta try again

Ok I wasn't able to try to start the 811 today... I cooked a raw feast for my husband's company meeting and ended up eating all that great gourmet raw foods... Oops.... I'll try again tomorrow though...

By the way my raw feast was a success!!!!

1st 811 trial - a failure

My first 811 trial was a complete failure... I lasted a day on the 811 diet... However I really did feel wonderful and want to try again.... I have been feeling very lethargic and I am guessing all this high fat raw stuff is getting to me. My husband just got me a vitamix and champion juicer which will hopefully make my 811 trial a lot easier!!!!!

Wish me luck! I am giving 811 a new try tomorrow! :)

I convinced my picky eater to like green smoothies!

I can't believe I finally convinced my picky eater to drink and like a green smoothie... It started with making our own soda and finally I suggested making our own green drink!!! He got really excited and we came up with a smoothie called green Godzilla! Here is the recipe of the smoothie that got him a green mustache and that beautiful smile

  • 2 handfuls spinach
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • Agave nectar
  • 1 banana

I am so excited! Green GOdzilla is now a staple in our house!

80-10-10

Na segunda começei a ler o livro "The 80-10-10 diet" do Dr. Douglas. Segundo Dr. Douglaso excesso de gorduras proveniente de uma dieta high-fat raw não é benefico e ele defende uma dieta em que as calorias são 80% vindas de frutas, 10% vindas de vegetais e 10% vindas de gorduras.

A partir de amnhã farei o teste para ver se consigo sobreviver na dieta 811.... Pretendo seguir tudo a risca durante um mês.

DIa 5 Jejum de sucos

Hoje farei um jejum e passarei o dia tomando sucos para desintoxicar. Como sucos não tem nenhuma novidade visual simplesmente relatarei os sucos tomados.

  1. Pela manhã - Suco feito com uma maça, um limão, aipo, gengibre e espinafre
  2. Após o Pilates - Suco feito com melancia e limão
  3. Almoço - Suco feito com cenoura, maça e espinafre
  4. Almoço 2 - Suco feito com laranja, maça e espinafre
  5. Pela tarde - Suco feito com laranja e grapefruit.

No café da manhã, tomei limonada verde novamente e salada de fruta quando senti fome. Para almoçar fiz esse wrap de tapioca recheado com abacate, alface, repolho roxo, cenoura e pepino. Sobremesa tamaras com pasta de amendoas e cacao. Tudo cru....

Salada feita com endivias, goji berries, sementes de hemp, brotos diversos, azeitonas pretas, cenoura,tomates secos e Rabanete

Tomei um suco de mamão batido com semente de hemp, stevia e água. A semente de hemp tem bastante proteína para ajudar a pós malhação!

Meu café da manhã dia 1

Geralmente pela manhã tomo uma Limonada verde. A Limonada leva 5 folhas de couve , 3 galhos de aipo, 1 maçã fuji, 1 limão e um pedaço de gengibre. Todos os ingredientes são orgânicos claro!


O resto da manhã comerei frutas frescas de acordo com a fome.

Essa receita adaptei de um livro de receitas cruas.... MT MT bom e parece com danete mesmo....

Ingredientes
  • Carne de dois a tres cocos verdes - o bastante para preencher uma xícara
  • 5 colheres de sopa de cacao cru em pó
  • Meia xícara de água de coco
  • 5 colheres de sopa de nectar de agave (ou 3 colheres de mel cru)

Bata todos os ingredientes no liquidificador e Voilá!!!!! Uma deliciosa sobremesa!
